Awesome theme for a brewery, it fits into the neighborhood PERFECTLY. The brewery only got 3 stars because the beer was good. The beer to me was standard, nothing jumped and screamed at me. One issue is they do not do flights, only samples (which is good because they are free), which works but it still is not the same. They definitely are missing out on an opportunity. THEY ONLY TAKE CASH SO PLAN AHEAD. If you forget that, there is a bank right down the street. Prices were reasonable and the decor inside was well thought through. Parking can be a little challenging, but we were lucky and scored some sweet street parking. This brewery is definitely on the right track!

Although it is very small it is a great location in the heart of downtown with some great decor and artwork throughout. Beer was pretty good. I'll def be back!

Top notch microbrewery/brew pub! 1. FANTASTIC beers. Finest collection of IPAs I've had anywhere. All 6 IPAs were fresh and great tasting. My fave was the Unicycle...a nice single hopped offering. 2. 5$ for a fresh top quality pint! 3. Cool decor with the most unique high top table I've seen. Check the stone table in the corner. 4. Great location and easy to find on Central Ave. Wooden tables out front to enjoy your brew in the sun! Terminator ranking! "I'll be back"

Good beer, fun vibe. Enjoyed the eclectic decorations and layout. Reminder: cash-only.

Great local brewery! This place caters to cyclists...with beer names like "crank," "fixie," and "wheelie"....And they are tasty beers! You can sit inside and hang your bike on their indoor bike stand or sit and enjoy the brew outside on picnic tables. They also feature works by local artists along their walls. Would be great for a post-dinner drink or after a long bike ride.

Great beers. I enjoyed it. Opens up to central so you get some nice people watching too. $4 pints on Tuesday. Cash only so bring at least $50 to get a good sampling :-)

I rarely have a bad experience at breweries/brewpubs and rarely even write reviews on here, but I my couple of experiences at Cycle have not been the best. I seem to be one of the few negatives here, so you can take that with a grain of salt. I was excited to check this place out during two separate visits to St. Pete. Overall, the beers were pretty decent. I enjoyed their pale ales and IPA's they had on tap at the time and would probably rate them 3.5/5. Cream and sugar was not for me, but my wife enjoyed it. Nothing out of this world, though. What really annoyed me was the bar staff. Two separate times, I was standing at the bar, literally staring at the bartender waiting for a beer. I was the only one at the bar. He was labeling crowlers (maybe) and didn't seem to want to help me out. Finally I said, "hey man, can I order a beer?" He seemed annoyed, like I was asking a lot of him. I got my beer, drank it and left. Overall, I don't find this place very inviting...it is in an excellent spot and has so much potential, but I just didn't get that friendly vibe that I am used to at beer spots. Next time I am in St. Pete, I might give it another chance, but would much rather make the drive to 7venth Sun or CCBC, where the bar staff is a little more passionate about sharing their beers and creating a very positive experience for new customers...and most importantly, serve better beer. Important to mention that this place is cash only, which was pretty annoying, but they do make it very clear on their website, fb page, etc.

I'll rate this at 4 stars for now, since I've only been to Cycle once, but it definitely has the potential for 5! We stopped in on an impromptu brewery tour of St. Pete. Also on the list were 3 daughters and St. Pete Brewing Co. The beer at Cycle won out, hands down. I especially enjoyed the sour on tap at the time. We found the beer to be more original and better across the board. It is a small place, and cash only, but we will definitely be back!
(4)
Brett N.
Why 4 stars? Because I dig this vibe. --- --- --- Yes, descriptions of the beer would definitely help. But as long as the bartender continues to answer questions without being annoyed, I see no issue with it. I only tried one beer here, and liked it. I really enjoyed the cycle theme, despite not being a cyclist. Opening the doors to blend the sidewalk seating with the indoor tables... it's quite a delight in Florida's December. Keep it up Cycle. I shall return.

Great location in downtown St. Pete cool atmosphere and great selection on tap. Cash only.

I really like Cycle Brewing. They have a large number of taps and there's something for everyone's taste. The only thing I wish that they would do is offer flights.

Don't be afraid to try new beers. Delicious stuff! We are in town as tourists as we moved away several years ago. When we travel we always like to sample the local brew options. Cycle Brewing did not disappoint. I am always a fan of an IPA with bold flavors and there were several options on tap to suit my palate here. I really enjoyed their "Fixie" and a couple of others. They offer growler service and I'd recommend taking them up on it. There are large glass growler options, but they are also pretty innovative and offer a 32oz. can, which they fill and press a top onto right there, for you if you need less than a large growler. The guy behind the bar when we were there was Steve. We really enjoyed talking with him and getting to know a little about the place and the goings on with St. Pete brewing. We are looking forward to trying out some of the other recommendations that he had in the area as well for food and other breweries!

A beer bar with beer made in the back. It is a very simple designed place and very comfortable. Come in, have a beer, chat with locals and enjoy yourself. The staff is very friendly, though it is cash only. There is a bank next door should you need cash.
(5)
Peter S.
I'm a fan. The brews are great. The atmosphere is hip and creative. Sit inside or sidewalk seating. Dog friendly. Can get growlers to take home. I'd give them one more star if they accepted credit/debit cards. I don't like carrying cash.

really great beer, cool hang out. But why do you not take credit cards?!

Recommended by a bartender at a nearby eatery, this place delivered. I had a Fixie IPA at that local spot and had to come here to see what else was cooking. The varieties rotate on availability, but the styles here seemed to all be sort of polar similarities. Agreed with other reviewers in that a list of explanations would be nice. I don't mind asking, but sometimes I want to read them again and see what's interesting. I enjoy branching out brew-wise and this was the 3rd stop on a brewery tour of St. Pete. I had the Unicycle Columbus and took home a growler of Fixie IPA. They have a happy hour where the growler refills are on a deal so we were in luck. The bartender was very informative and the decor was very trendy. The location had parking on the street (metered parking before 6pm) and a few banks (BoA and Regions) as well for your withdrawing pleasure. As everyone else has said - CASH ONLY! so come prepared. A good spot for a few brews, I'll definitely come back again

In case you missed it in other reviews, this is a cash only establishment. Fortunately, their beers are very affordable and even more drinkable. Also as prior reviews have noted, they do not do flights, but they do samples. So your best bet is to find something you don't mind a pint of and then sample a few others so you know what to get next or next time you visit. I personally enjoy the atmosphere of Cycle a lot. I prefer my bars to be cozy, on the dim side, and not have many televisions or loud games going on around you. It's a more laid back bar- somewhere you would start a crawl at or go to wind down instead of a party bar. Staff is great and love to help you pick out something to drink. I've only had about three of the beers but thoroughly enjoyed each. They all have a nice smooth body to them. Lots of food options nearby and also a few more breweries, so make sure you save room!

First stop we made when we entered Tampa, it was around 9:30pm on Saturday night. It wasn't crowded, but there were plenty of people here. Cash only, Bank of America and Regions Bank, were both right next door. Within a 30 second walk. Very convenient. I'm a newb when it comes to the craft beer scene. I was introduced to this place by my friend RT. They have a chalkboard wall with the specials, as well as other items not on the wall. If this place has the passion fruit Popsicle, try it, its good. Also, order something called "300"? It wasn't on the wall, but it was Great!! I will definitely come by here again.

Very impressed with this brewery! Had their Sour Beer and the Coffee flavored one. Both amazing and very easy to drink. Cute decor but rather unusual music selection. Beware they are cash only and def get your 32oz growler filled for $5 on Mondays!

Compared to my experience at Green Bench the day prior, this place is the best brewery in the world!! But seriously, this is my kinda joint. Its funky, small, industrial, with works from local artists around the place and a nice indoor/outdoor space. The beer is the real draw here and they don't disapoint. I tried a few beers - the Fixie, the Ryerish Red, and Codename Shakefield - and loved them all very impressed. Great staff too, very accomodating always making sure our glasses were full and we were happy with our selections. It may be cash only - but its only a half a block to an ATM on the corner and its worth it - 5 dollar beers of high quality on a saturday makes me a very happy out of town visitor :) Thanks Cycle!

Excellent beer selection. Quick service and bartender was quick to recommend his favorites. We took his suggestion and really enjoyed the atmosphere. They have outdoor seating which we took advantage of. Cash only.

Just went here recently. Be aware, cash only! Don't use the ATM right across the street, because there are lots of banks are nearby. I think it's great that they let you sample anything you want. All of the beer I tasted was good. They also had lots of seating room. I do wish that they offered flights or smaller sizes so I could try more stuff, but maybe they'll have that some other time.

Great bar!! Great service! Cash only so stop at the ATM. Bottom of the 9th was my fave!!

A CYCLE THEME? The feel and look here is much different than other local breweries. Don't expect any corn hole tournaments or big music venues. The space is more intimate and modern with white walls, hanging art work, and metal finishings. With a wide, open front, the outside sounds and lack of distractions (live music or TVs) almost force you to communicate with your party--I guess that can be a good thing. And the people watching at the front can be fun. Despite the name, this place loosely incorporates anything cycling related (as an avid biker I wished they could've done more with that theme) CREAMY SMOOTH BEER Most of the names are playful like YOLO or CHAIN SLAP but dang... these are pretty good beer. Unfortunately they don't offer any flights so I'm forced to cradle one entire flavor for the night (I'm a light weight)... but so far I've REALLY LIKED everything I've tasted. Cream and Sugar has a strong Coffee flavor and is my favorite. It's a great dark with only slight bitterness. A FEW CHARACTERS Its location also makes it easier to bring in a few questionable characters that treat this place like a grimy bar. And as others have noted--cash only?? Luckily the bartenders have been very nice and ready to chat with you. Thank goodness the beer and service here is great because when compared to other local breweries, Cycle Brewing lacks in many of the non-Beer components.

Great little brewery, very open and many selections one is sure to satisfy your palette. It's cash only so be sure to hit an ATM beforehand.
(4)
Michael M.
The only question that matters in a brewery is...Do they make good beer? Cycle goes beyond that and makes great beer. Brewer/owner Doug has been making amazing beers for years out of Peg's Cantina in Gulfport, and his streak continues here. I really look forward to what the guys at Cycle have for us in the future. Don't let the rough and tumble look of the premises scare you. That's just a little St Pete charm.
(5)
Christina G.
This place is just AWESOME! They allow you to order food while you drink, the service is superior, and the beer is fantastic. Please make sure you bring plenty of cash because they only accept cash. Can't wait to go back.
(5)

I have been to Cycle dozens of times since they have opened. This might possibly be the best beer in St. Pete! Everything they do is on point and crazy delicious. Their rare bottle releases are always worth the trip and always have something funky in the works. If Im heading to St. Pete you know Im headed to cycle! Cream and Sugar, Fixie, or Freewheel is a must!!
(5)

Okay, so Cycle Brewing is growing on me. Two great beers are "Bottom of the 9th Brown" and "Cream and Sugar Please," which is made with local Mazzaro's Coffee. It is slap you in the face good. They also have Growlers for take home beer that's only $5 to buy the glassware and $8 to fill. Equates to two pints of deliciousness.

Fantastic place to hang, people watch and meet interesting people. I love the space, which feels like the taprooms I know from the West coast. Cash only so be on top of that. I tried the Tang and Biscuit and the Unicycle: Motueka. Both were fantastic. I've seen a few reviews that the room has no AC. Here's the dealie: like most taprooms, the storefront is open to the street. Florida is hot, folks. The AC is running, but if you sit by the open storefront in August, it will still feel like August in Florida. If you're uncomfortable, move to the cooler tables, away from the street, in the back. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and a delight. I love their passion and their commitment. My husband and I have visited a lot of taprooms and we loved this place. If you appreciate your beer and enjoy taprooms, Cycling Brewing is your spot.

#cashonly. Cool little spot with the best beer in the bay area, and with the # of quality breweries around here that is saying a lot. If you're lucky enough to be here on a day they have barrel aged stouts or sours on tap then you have to try one! Their IPAs are also delicious. Can't go wrong with Fixie, Hammer or Crank.

I wish I could give a review on the beer, but the bartender totally ignored us, so I left after waiting 15 minutes. And they weren't even busy. Worst service ever.

Best brewery in st pete even though 3 daughters is more fun overall due to the free games. Great beers and a type for every taste even if you don't normally like certain styles you may like them here. Relaxed place right next to emerald which is the best bar in st pete. Come on Tuesdays and Sundays when Ronnie and Stebo are working and you won't have a better bartending crew in the town...although I'm biased because they are my friends...but you'll have a great time and they always play great music, although once again I'm biased
(5)
C David S.
Great beer selection. Good prices. And air conditioning inside too. What's not to like. Unlike other breweries, these guys have more than just IPA. They could use more seating.
(5)
Jon K.
Single worst customer service I've ever seen in a bar/brewery. I stood at counter for 20 minutes without ever getting a beer. People were walking out due to lack of service. There was a line of literally 14 growlers waiting to be filled and people withdrew their orders because it was taking so long. Did I mention this is during the middle of the day, barely busy. They're cash only, which is ridiculous They have a list of beer names but give no hint as to the type. That said, the beer was good. But it's hard to get past how hard it was to get to it.

The coffee and cream coffee milk porter was out of this world. I also sampled a Wheelie Scotch Ale that was fantastic. Cannot recommend this place enough. It's an up and comer. Will stop here anytime I'm visiting from Jacksonville.

Brandon has a hard time rating breweries, he thinks they all deserve a 4 or 5 because they sell good beer. Cycle started out pretty small and didn't have a whole lot of beer but recently they've grown and have a good selection of beers on tap. The atmosphere is nice, it's a good little place to stop in for a drink downtown. ... no cider tho:( and I don't think they take credit cards only cash... hopefully they figure out the whole square thing so that people can use debit and credit.

Cycle Brewing is a nice little place on Central. A great place to meet a friend and have a beer or two. Some of the best tasting beer of the local brewery's
(5)
Brad S.
Is it too much to ask for a description of the beers they are selling here? The menu is printed on the wall. But you only see cute names, such as "Fixxy" and "Cream and Sugar." You have no idea if these are IPAs, pale ales, porters, lagers, stouts, wheats, sours, Belgians etc etc. There is no posted alcohol content by volume (ABV), so you don't know if the beer you are considering is a 10% IPA that will knock you on your ass, or a 4% wheat ale that is not worth the price. Oh, and the prices? There aren't any posted. So you have no idea what anything costs. Oh, and, by the way, it's cash only. That's right. But why? They don't want to pay the credit card companies? It's 2013, people. Many of us carry no cash. So, no cash, no sale. You make no money. You soon go out of business. Hey, I really want to like this place. I don't care if there is no AC. I like the atmosphere - a lot. Art on the walls. Open garage doors to the street. Sidewalk seating. Dog friendly. Maybe the brews are good. Other people think so. I'll be back again to see if they can at least post a normal menu with prices like virtually every single one of their rapidly multiplying competitors up and down the street.

I often wonder when craft beers will pop the bubble. There are so many, almost too many to choose from these days that you almost need a degree on your own tongue to discern what each type is and the subtle differences between them. But, I didn't come here to earn a degree, I came for a cold, good, independent, craft beer and a relaxing atmosphere. Cycle Brewing delivered. Very cool use of space that they're converting here. The garage door entrance is pretty sweet and very opening to the public walking down a very popular part of Central Ave. I would say that the main door that says "cash only" was completely missed when I walked in the first time but saw it when I came back in after I had to take a call. Since they're recently opened, a cash bar is fine and not unheard of w/ a neighbor like Emerald who is also cash-only. Maybe put a sign above the taps where it's more prominent. I was looking through the pictures posted before my visit and noticed the empty wall-space where all the high-top "cubbies" are. Fortunately they're now covered with some eye-popping art by some very talented local artists. The beer did not disappoint in the slightest. I tried two of their IPA's and was pleasantly surprised by both of them. I would suggest as a beer connoisseur but by no means an expert that they provide a simple printed out sheet on each beer...not only whats in it but tell how each one is made...which employee/brewmaster came up with it, the inspiration behind the beer, and whatever else is pertinent. I think that'd be pretty very informative and a great conversation starter. All-in-all a great experience and I look forward to going back in the coming weeks.

if india really had pale ales of this caliber the western world might never have had the opportunity to soak their taste buds in what i imagine to be the basis behind the dali llamas nirvana. with beers so fine both anheiser and Busch have become reclusive shut ins due to their shame and self hatred and a night time bartender hotter than microwaved dynamite this is a fine example of what a dtsp brewpub should be like.

Open for 21 days, brave new world time... Cleanly installed and functional beer lines? Check. Appropriate glassware and serving of your product? Check. Generous tasting pours so we can answer "what's that?" ourselves? Check. So the important part was taken care of -- the beer. The place is still in its infancy, so some of the "charm" (paper coasters until real ones are printed, open-air with fans instead of AC on full-blast, service staff who are learning the product), cash only for now (merchant accounts are NOT easy or cheap to set up, and billing software is stupid expensive) actually fits the stage of the business. This is not World of Beer (which is also open-air in many of its locations), nor is it a poorly conceived Brewpub (there is no food, which is better than bad food). This is the impressive first blush of a local brewery making a stake on Central Ave, complete with engaging local art on the walls, passionate proprietors behind the bar, rough edges, and incredible promise. For now, I'm a deeply appreciative fan. Saved this for last: Taste is completely subjective, but for my tastes and enjoyment this is some of the best beer available in Central Florida. Highly recommended. Good luck, guys!

I really wanted to love this place...I am a huge beer fan and I always cheer when I hear a new brewery is open. However..... 1) Only 6 beers on tap with no description and a bartender that can't tell you a thing about them. From what she said they are mostly IPA's (which we are not really fans of) with a coffee tasting porter and "something that is more amber and less hoppy". I ordered this last beer and it was an IPA. 2) This place is completely unfinished looking. No decor. Most the walls are cement. I felt like we broke into a warehouse for a pop-up bar. I'm not a snob though, decor can be forgiven. The next points...not so much. 3) HOT. They are trying to do the "Ale and the Witch" thing and allow dogs. However, they are lacking the courtyard to do so. Instead they leave the garage door (yup, garage door on the front of the building) open. If there is air on, you can't feel it. 4) Cash Only. It is a bit ridiculous to accept cash only in this day and age. It is even worse to tell customers AFTER you hand them their beer. It is UNFORGIVEABLE to make derogatory comments in front of a customer about how "people can just deal with it, the atm's aren't that far" (the owner said this to the bartender when she told him that she didn't tell us before we ordered...right in front of me). Did I mention it was storming outside? Also, the atm they referred us to (Regions right next to Cycle Brewing) only has an atm inside the locked doors. My poor Husband had to venture a bit to find a Bank of America in the pouring rain. It's okay though...according to the owner it isn't a problem. We quickly tried and dismissed our mediocre hoppy beers. We then headed our favorite local bar for some good craft beer. I don't wish failure on a new brewery; but I will predict it with this one.

I guess I need to visit again as my opinions from my first two visits were during the first month in the new location. The room felt a little chilly and the crowd even cooler :-) Majority of what I tried was a little high on the IBU chart for me but I was always a fan in Gulfport so time to revisit perhaps

The Central Ave area aspires to be the heart of St.Petersburg's craft brewing renaissance. Two breweries are operating on the avenue, Cycle Brewing and Green Bench Brewing. Cycle Brewing has some serious challenges it must address. I can't tell if the operators are stupid or arrogant. But I'm leaning towards arrogant. The brewery's space is small but adequate. It has a large garage type door that when I visited was open. This openness in cooler weather works well. I doubt it's much of a benefit in the sweltering Florida summer. As stated several times below the beer names are posted on a chalkboard, with no meaningful description or even the price listed. There is no "paper" listing for review, so if the cutesy name leaves you wanting more you have to ask. Even in a perfect world this isn't so wonderful, but at Cycle the beer pourers are an unfriendly and unhelpful bunch. So you are on your own bucko. As many have mentioned the brewery is cash only. I knew this going in but many "beer tourists" did not and weren't told until they tried to pay. The surly crew behind the bar liked to roll their eyes and sigh at such instances. On the bright side I did witness a local patron buy a cash poor patron a beer when after ordering he couldn't pay the cash bill. I am guessing the no credit card policy is a choice probably to keep their cash flows out of the government's prying eyes more than anything else...there is really no other reasonable explanation. So the beer is like many of these new breweries well done but not spectacular. But unlike the other breweries with Cycle it's not about getting the customer enthused about the beer and the place. It's more about being a snot. I hope they fix these simple attitude and customer service problems, so they are still around when St. Pete really hits its stride in a few years.

Some really good beers. I do wonder if they have started taking credit cards. That is sometimes comes into play when deciding where to go. It is nice to see some of the old faces from people that worked and drank at the old Independent.

Cycle Brewing is a no frills brewer's tasting room. If you want a strawberry daiquiri go somewhere else. If you want internationally recognized, award winning beer this is your place. The brewer Doug Dozark formerly of Oskar Blues, and Cigar City is as good a brewer as you can get. This place is a good addition to downtown St Pete. Who needs a strawberry daiquiri when you can get a growler(32oz,128oz). They don't take credit cards, probably never will, cash only! There are ATMs right next door. Monday $5 Growlers, Tuesday $4 pints.

Relatively small, but the brewing co., does very well with the space it has. There are pieces of bicycle parts cleverly repositioned as part of other structures and embedded in the pub tables. Even the beer had clever, bike inspired names. Although, they don't have a huge selection of brew, the selection they have provides a good variety. Upon my first visit, the staff patiently described their offerings and allowed sample tastes. P.S. Take plenty of cash, as Cycle Brewing doesn't accept cards.

At Cycle Brewing you get five star beer from an award-winning brewer - including the occasional aged selection. Standouts are the Rare Dos, 300 and seasonal Pumpqueen for those who enjoy the heavier beers, but lighter styles are also available - all well balanced and delicious; this is a brewer who really knows what he's doing. This is my favorite brewery in the area, and it attracts a great crowd. Its industrial aesthetic and quirky local art are also big pluses here - they help emphasize just how unique this little place really is. This should be any beer drinker's first stop in St Peterburg, and anyone who rates them with less than four stars does not know beer. Right now I'm enjoying a glass of perfection at their aged beer event, and I couldn't be happier.

Beers were good. Bartender was annoying. Couldn't believe they didn't offer a sampler though...full pints only. Cream and Sugar beer was delicious. Brown was alright. Both pale ales were good too.

This place is not fancy. No big tvs, no loud music, the seating is not even what I would call comfortable, but they put their attention where their attention should be at a brewery, the beer. All their beers across styles and crafts is just well constructed and amazing. Will always keep coming back.
(5)
Kerrie V.
Great stouts! If they have a barrel-aged beer on, grab it! Best brewery in St Pete by far.
(5)
Sam F.
This is far and away the best beer in St. Pete. Couple that with some nice seating options and good music/friendly bartenders and I don't see why you'd go anywhere else...unless you feel the need to have bad beer while being distracted by a YMCA (3 Daughters) or babies (Green Bench).
(5)
Todd F.
Fantastic local brews the best in town and rivals Cigar City for their quality. Cash only but for $5 drafts of quality micro brew you can't beat it. I will definitely go back it is a hipster paradise which I will fault for only the fact that there are no TVs so you can't enjoy the beer and watch a game otherwise no complaints.
(4)
Katie M.
I am not a beer drinker, but the bartender had me try the Cream n' Sugar, which was great! It tasted like coffee. My boyfriend wasn't the biggest fan of his beer and he's more of the beer drinker. But we'd definitely come again. The atmosphere is laid back and pretty plain...will be interesting to see how they grow!

Great local brewery with a friendly staff. My boyfriend loves their Cream and Sugar porter, but as it contains actual milk, I pass on it. I love their Pumqueen and Hazelnut barrel aged brews.

Only reason I give the Central Ave Cycle Brewing tasting room 4 stars is because I know this is just a transition for this brewery. It will be a solid 5 once the place is completely finished. Some folks might not know the history of this brewery and make judgments based on its current soft opening phase. The original Cycle Brewery started at Peg's Cantina in Gulfport which is a great spot in its own right. The Cycle's main brewer learned his chops at Cigar City which is in the top 5 of Craft Beers in America and world-renowned. But back to Cycle because this independent establishment is making its own name in the craft beer world; its G.O.O.D. Rare Dos is an award-winning brew and ranks 10th in the top 100 beers of Beer Advocate. Even with this acclaim, Doug, the brewer, is humble and the staff is dedicated and friendly. I love the low key atmosphere of Cycle's downtown location which is blending well with the arts scene on the 500 and 600 block. The once bare walls now have interesting local art. It's a perfect match since they focus on the art of beer. Cycle Brewing is one to follow and instrumental in the local craft beer movement burgeoning in the 'Burg. The current cash only status is worth it, not to have to wait for their tasty beers. Just wait until it is in full force- liquid art, my friends.

Cool tiny beer joint. 5 bucks a pint for any beer. Not a port or stout guy but the taster I had of the Cream and Sugar made me get a growler to go. Which was also really cool. They can the beer on the spot. Straight out of the tap.

Love the relaxed atmosphere here and the great prices. The Cream and Sugar was very deserving of the hype. One of the best coffee porters I've ever tasted. The Crank was a very citrusy-delicious and refreshing IPA. I couldn't resist their adorable growler bag which carries up to 4 growlers! I wish I didn't live 4 hours away or I would bike to this brewery for some brews all the time. Can't wait to be back!

Nice atmosphere and beer selection. But the female bartender was not very welcoming at all. When asking questions, it seemed as if we were interrupting her night. No friendly help or feedback on beers at all. It's a pity as we love everything else about this place.

A friend and I were in downtown St. Petersburg (DTSP) to see a concert last year. Prior to the show, we decided that we would do a Pub Crawl. We stumbled on this brewery on our walk back to our hotel. I love how this brewery is so simple but yet has such a great vibe. Much of the brewery's interior is stainless steel, from the bar to the beer taps. The beer taps are gears instead of your normal taps and they sit on a beautiful piece of stainless steel. There is a selection of beers here for drinkers of all ages. I tried the Ecto Cooliner and despite its lime green color, it was very good. The staff was friendly and very helpful in letting us sample their variety of choices. Put this brewery on your "must try" list for some unique tastes in beer.

Great beer, locally brewed and super indie location. You can find this tasty little place in a small garage-like location on Central (with a roll up door), totally keeping with the bicycle theme they have going from the name. I have to say they lack variety in what they serve here, as everything is all a bit hoppy--but SUPER tasty if that's what you like. My friend who isn't into hops struggled a bit with finding something she liked. With its small location, I can see it getting really crowded during busy times, though I was there for drinks before dinner so it was quiet and empty, so we were able to enjoy all the pop art on the walls. Their small size and stature also mean that they are a strictly beer place and, maybe more problematic ally at times, cash only. Overall, I am impressed with Cycle Brewing's beer, but I feel like it's only a start to what they are capable of--a greater variety would make it appeal to a larger swath of guests.

Cream and sugar please.... That is all you need to say when you walk in....this porter is amazing! I love the crowlers, you can buy a few to take home and they are the perfect size to drink without wasting any. The only draw back is it is cash only....so bring enough to take home a few crowlers!!!

There's something to be said when you can get a beer that taste like a coffee. There is something to be said for really, really good beer in a very small but very DIY mentality brewery. Cycle is known to be one of the best breweries in the area - an offspring of the infamous and delicious Peg's Cantina, cycle brings in all denizens of the bay area to their drinking hall. The crowd here is mostly millennials to I'm 40 but I would a millenial if I wasn't 40 people. And the ambience is very social and non threatening. Again, back to the beer that taste like a coffee. The Coffee and Please is the most brilliant concoction I've had in a while.

I fell in love with Cycle Brewing three years ago at Peg's Cantina. When they opened this brewery downtown, I was ecstatic. I love their beers, namely Coffee n Cream Porter. I'm a fan of some of the IPAs too. I also love that their pricing is consistent so you always know what you're getting into price-wise, no surprises. The guy that work here are attentive. The decor is interesting, and the interior is clean. My only complaint is this cash only business. Who carries cash anymore?!

I won't be stingy here. Five stars to this microbrewery, because I think they will become the next big thing in Florida. Tampa seems to have been blessed with some excellent beer, and this has made the city Florida's beer central. But St. Petersburg is not that far off with this "newer" brewery. Cycle Brewing is serving some hoppy, tasty stuff, and using good quality products to achieve these results. I enjoy their Pale Ales very much, and I also enjoy their stouts. Of these, they have several variations, all very well executed. This place is very relaxed. The space is open, there is air conditioning but the doors are never closed. It may be a bit sticky inside, a mosquito or two may fly by, but it is all in a laid back setting. There are also tables outside, and lots of people walk by. This may be the best brewery according to location, because most breweries are situated in industrial parks or defunct shopping centers. Cycle Brewing is located in the heart of main street St. Pete. Like other reviewers have pointed out, this is a cash only establishment. No beer flights are available, but tastings are available. Growlers are filled and they recently installed the can growler, "crowler" I think it's called. The kids here are cool, talkative, it's a really nice place for beer lovers. Cycle Brewing... can't wait to see you again.

Cool spot with outside and inside seating. Great place if you biking around St Pete. You have to get a Cream and Sugar Please, it's absolutely delicious!

Awesome beer and atmosphere. The bartender greased us immediately, offered samples and made great suggestions. They only had 6 beers on tap, all their own but with a wide enough variety to please almost anyone. They fill crowlers and they must have sold 30 in the hour we were there! The bar is cash only.

A few friends and I were here on 5/2/14 (or, perhaps, in the early hours of 5/3/14) while in town for the weekend. I think that this was the first visit to Cycle for each of us. I wasn't sure what to expect, exactly, but I had a nice time here and thought it was a neat place. I'd tried a few Cycle beers before and enjoyed all of them, so I at least knew that the beer here would be very good. My friends and I tried such beers as Cream and Sugar, Please (as you might expect, a coffee-flavored porter), Chain Slap (a really, really good stout), Hashtag YOLO (another porter) and at least one IPA. Everything was delicious. I believe that some of the beers are available in growlers, and all of them are able to be sampled prior to a potential purchase. The employees and customers were very cool. The bar appears to be dog-friendly, and one couple had theirs with them inside. One of the guys who works at Rapp Brewing was there when we were and remembered us from the last time we were in town, and then sat and had a few beers with us. Lots of nice people/beer enthusiasts in the Tampa area. I liked the design of the brewery's interior; it looked clean and spacious. I believe that the art hanging on the walls was available for purchase, but I didn't look too closely. The brewery accepts only cash as payment, so be prepared for that. Glassware is available for sale. I bought a nice tulip- or snifter-style glass for $5. I'm hoping to be back again soon. I've heard that one of Cycle's most coveted beers, RareR DOS or Dos, may be available for purchase on draft/in growlers soon, so I may need to come by for that. It was or currently is rated as one of the best beers you can get anywhere right now. Check it out if at all possible.

Cash only. Dark beers, ipa, etc. Could have friendlier staff that wants you to drink their beer.

There's a variety of beers on tap but I love the Creme n sugar, plz. The ambience is great and they have awesome tables.

Cycle brewing came pretty highly recommended from Tampa area beer people while we were visiting, and they did not disappoint. Well, maybe there was a touch of disappointment. The tasting room itself was nice, featuring an open facade that let in a taste of the beautiful weather. There were approximately a dozen beers to try, and we tried most of them. My favorites were the Cream and Sugar Please and the Fixie and Freewheel IPA's. I wish I could have tried them all, but that brings me to my first problem with this place. No flights. It's not a deal breaker, I just feel like when I'm there for a limited time and want to taste everything your brewery has created, I should be able to do so without getting drunk and/or spending a fortune. Also, no credit cards. Come on guys. It's 2015. I shouldn't have to walk next door to use the ATM whilst being accosted by bums looking for handouts. The guy behind the bar wasn't rude, but I dunno, he just seemed seemed like he wasn't into his job. Maybe he was having an off day. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. But I would absolutely go back when I'm in the area, and would recommend it to any other craft beer aficionados. Just bring some cash.

I liked this place. The space was very nice. It reminded me of a Greek Taverna if that makes any sense. Maybe european beach town cafe is a better description. The ambiance was very refreshing and the little table nooks offered some intimacy but didn't isolate. It was hot outside and it was cool inside even though they had an open entrance. There is free parking along the streets during the weekend and outside of the 2 hour only parking during weekly work hours. The beer to come home with (for me) was Cream and Sugar Please. To be able to enjoy it on a very hot day was a testament to how light it actually was despite being a coffee based porter. My boyfriend and I took a crowler to go. The only drawbacks were that they don't offer flights and they are cash only. Also, and I get it, bartenders hate to be asked what they recommend but first, I don't consider the people behind the bars at breweries to be bartenders because I feel they are more than that. They should be knowledgeable about the brews and the brewing and I feel like if you have about 10 beers listed and you most likely have a brew you KNOW is popular and a good one, that shouldn't be an issue. When I asked what he recommended, since they don't offer flights, he used the old, "well, what do you usually like to drink?" I'm not here for my usual, I'm here to try the best you have to offer. I found this place to be charming and accessible but the crew seemed less than enthused compared to the other breweries we had visited. It could have just been an off day for them I guess. I would go back to see.

I stopped here with friends. I personally don't drink beer, however they love the place. My experience was that when asking if they had anything other than beer, I was promptly told no. The staff seemed quite off put by the question, and somewhat rude in their responses. I understand this is a micro brewery. One would think that you could anticipate some visiting the establishment would not want beer. Was not my type of place, loud environment, unfriendly and slightly rude staff, nothing other than beer served. I would not return.

Cream and Sugar, Please! The beer is all great and reasonably priced. Note, this is a cash only establishment.

Cycle Brewing has fantastic beer. Fixie=delicious! Lots of great IPAs as well! It's a very mellow place with a chill vibe and great people. It's a lot smaller then the other breweries in the area but the staff make it very homey. Good beer. Good people.

Creme n sugar is my favourite. I didn't have much time to try more beers from their selection but this place is definitely worth checking.

We loved Cycle so much that we came here a few times on our recent trip to St. Pete. It became our "regular" when we were there. CROWLERS!! YES!! I had never had a crowler before. The whole concept is awesome. Their beers are fantastic, with a special shout out to their Lime Pale ale which I couldn't get enough of. I love that the front of the brewery is open and you can sit and have a beer and catch some sunshint. #Cashonly
(5)
Bob B.
First and foremost #cashonly! Stop by the ATM before you get here. You'll need lots of it because the beer they are serving up is delicious and you'll be craving more. Their barrel-aged stouts are awesome as are their sours. But they also do a hell of a job with their IPAs as well. The space is a bit different from other breweries with lots of metal and bikes adourning the tasting room. Awesome place and will continue to visit when in St Pete.

Really love this place. The first time we were here we had a surly know-it-all beertender but each time we've been back the person pouring the beer has been pleasant enough to deal with. The first guy was, "Oh...I don't care if you say you don't like IPAs...I'm going to change your mind and you're going to like THIS one!" When we didn't have a "come to Jesus" moment regarding hoppy beers he got moody. The rest of the folks were more attentive to our preferences and they've started writing hints of what the beers are up on the board. Cream and Sugar Please is my favorite. I love it. Last time I was there (late summer 2014) I think there were 12 beers on tap. Feel free to ask for samples and I think they'll do half-pints too. The interior design is phenomenal and that's why they got bumped up from 4 stars to 5. I'm a cyclist who loves good design. I'd just like to SIT here, even if I wasn't drinking beer! My only gripe is that people bring their huge dogs in here and then let the dogs sprawl all over the floor. It's like "low hurdles made of dogs and their leashes" to get back to the restroom. Have some manners, dog people. If the place is crowded keep pup outside or go someplace else. Your dog doesn't need to go to a brewery.

Really, really good beers all around. I'm a brewer from Utah and I will come back here next time I'm in town. Pretty chill spot with some sidewalk seating.

Another great local craft beer location in St. Petersburg. There really is a great craft beer trail developing in this area and this is one of the anchors. Really cool little brewery with a friendly staff. They allowed me to sample various choices before choosing my first pint because they don't do samplers and it was tough to pick just one, which is probably why I had a couple. All the hype about Cream and Sugar, Please is true and this is coming from a guy who doesn't like dark beers. Just try it. They also have one of the larger selections of IPAs I've seen at one local brewery. Oh, don't forget to bring cash...they don't take plastic.
(5)
Kerry O.
Not much of an atmosphere, not much of a selection, looks like a start up place which could use some decorating tips. they seem to be very IPA heavy so if you like IPA's it's your kind of place. They do have outdoor seating which is a plus but not a big enough plus to stay for more than one or two. On the downside they do not take credit cards cash only kids. Overall, not for me.
(1)
Chris A.
Great beer. I wish they sold flights so I could try more of their beers. Also know that they are cash only so hit the ATM before settling in for a few pints.
(4)
Kelly-Ann J.
Some of the best beer in the area. Some of the best IPAs anywhere. Some people have complained about the bartenders being rude. We've never had a problem. We knew Doug (the head brewer) when he was first getting started brewing. He gives special attention to his brews and it shows. Give this place a shot. As a tip, cash only!
(5)
Chris W.
Love the decor of this place, solid beers but the cream and sugar porter probably is the best porter anywhere.

Super cool place with super UNfriendly service. Employee we encountered couldn't have been more useless and cold. Beer was very good though and the place has interesting and unique artwork.

In comparison to the other wonderful breweries in the area, this place is just okay. The beer there is good, which is most important, but limited. The DIPA I had was great and I enjoyed the cream and sugar please porter. The rest were nothing special. I do like the fact it's open later than the other breweries, but the vibe is much more laid back. The bike theme is interesting and the tap handles are cool. Altogether a good addition to the craft breweries in St Pete.

Nina M.
I was going to give the place 3 stars originally, but service has improved drastically. The beer selection is great and they do allow sampling. The beers can be hit or miss, but it really comes down to taste buds. Cycle is not the place for you if you're looking for a run of the mill stout, IPA, pale ale, or other generic style. Their beers are definitely a twist on various styles, so you've got to be willing to try something different and with more aggressive flavors if you want to have some beers here. Indoor/outdoor seating and local art on the walls really fit well with the place. Cash only like other Yelpers said, so plan ahead.

Located in downtown St.Pete, Cycle brewing is in a great location surrounded by a bunch of little shops and restaurants. The inside is roomy and has local art on the wall. The tables are make of bike parts and the table tops have tools imbedded in them which create a cool cycle vibe. Most of the beer name are cycle related and the top handles look like gears and other bike needed tools. They had a Cream & Sugar Porter that was AMAZING! I'm not and avid beer drinker and finding beers that I like can be challenging so it was awesome to find one that I liked! The bartender who was on was not very friendly sadly. I mean your working with beer all day! Smile! Downfall? They don't do flights which is ok but sometimes it's nice to pick a few that you want to try more then just a sip but not enough for a whole pint.

Why 3 stars? I have been asking myself the same thing. Why not 4? The decor is awesomely cool. There is swanky local art all over the walls. They are an actual brewery unlike places like Steel City. They like to barrel age which can be a huge plus for dark beer. But no matter how cool and comfortable and interesting the brewery, it all comes down to the taste of the beer. And that is why I am giving them 3 stars. The beer is just A-OK. I tried 3 beers. All were barrel aged and dark. Normally I love these but these were just Meh. Also 2 were dulche de leche flavored then aged in scotch barrels, one blended and one single malt. They had a distinct and overwhelming taste of a butter scotch hard candy. It was too strong and ruined what could have been a very excellent beer. The other was a barrel aged imperial stout. This was decent. I guess I am just spoiled with Rapp Brewing being next door. And then there is the matter of the place being cash only. Everyone takes cards unless they are low rent. This place is anything but low rent so I don't understand what the problem is with taking cards. it just cheapens the experience that much more. And when each beer is $9?????? Yeah I said $9 a beer. You run through cash fast. That is a $10 beer with tip. Go to green bench up the road. It is much much better.

While I still very much enjoy Cycle's beer, decor, layout, and all that... this is definitely a tough place to just walk into. Sitting and enjoying my beer, my wife wondered about a flight or sampler. Who should walk in but a group of people who'd never been there before - their first question was if they could get a flight. "Nope," said the bartender, without even looking up from her phone. They all left immediately afterwards. No descriptions, no samplers, no credit cards (still!). While I can understand the cultivation of a certain image - in this case, a wall against the tragically unhip, who cannot appreciate a high-IBU beer with a clever name - it seems like they'd do so much better with just a brief description. A paper handout. Anything. Far be it for me to tell them what to do, but this has definitely moved it to a second-or-third choice place when showing someone new to DTSP.

Beer is delicious and fun scene on a nice street! The porter and IPA are good stuff. I wish they did flights but they'll do tastings until you find something you like.

(3)Dana N.
Although it is very small it is a great location in the heart of downtown with some great decor and artwork throughout. Beer was pretty good. I'll def be back!
(4)G M.
"I'll be back"
(5)Michael Z.
Good beer, fun vibe. Enjoyed the eclectic decorations and layout. Reminder: cash-only.
(4)Terry C.
(4)Kevin K.

(2)Emily B.
(4)Brett N.
(4)Molly N.
Great location in downtown St. Pete cool atmosphere and great selection on tap. Cash only.
(5)Jennifer W.
I really like Cycle Brewing. They have a large number of taps and there's something for everyone's taste. The only thing I wish that they would do is offer flights.
(4)Chris S.
(5)Dave M.
A beer bar with beer made in the back. It is a very simple designed place and very comfortable. Come in, have a beer, chat with locals and enjoy yourself. The staff is very friendly, though it is cash only. There is a bank next door should you need cash.
(5)Peter S.
I'm a fan. The brews are great. The atmosphere is hip and creative. Sit inside or sidewalk seating. Dog friendly. Can get growlers to take home. I'd give them one more star if they accepted credit/debit cards. I don't like carrying cash.
(3)Jeffrey L.
really great beer, cool hang out. But why do you not take credit cards?!
(4)Erik A.
(3)Jeremy B.
(5)Donald M.
(5)Kristin M.
Very impressed with this brewery! Had their Sour Beer and the Coffee flavored one. Both amazing and very easy to drink. Cute decor but rather unusual music selection. Beware they are cash only and def get your 32oz growler filled for $5 on Mondays!
(5)Bridget P.
(4)Steven P.
Excellent beer selection. Quick service and bartender was quick to recommend his favorites. We took his suggestion and really enjoyed the atmosphere. They have outdoor seating which we took advantage of. Cash only.
(5)Jason C.
(4)Kim M.

(3)Alex A.
Great little brewery, very open and many selections one is sure to satisfy your palette. It's cash only so be sure to hit an ATM beforehand.
(4)Michael M.
(5)Christina G.
This place is just AWESOME! They allow you to order food while you drink, the service is superior, and the beer is fantastic. Please make sure you bring plenty of cash because they only accept cash. Can't wait to go back.
(5)Joel P.
(5)Brett R.
(4)Michelle G.
(5)Thomas A.
(5)Will L.
Love the beer. Downside is no credit cards.
(4)Blake A.
Finally get to check into Cycle Brewery since getting Yelp! Lol. Great beer. It us a good place to chill at, in dtsp. Cash only though.
(5)Christopher M.
I wish I could give a review on the beer, but the bartender totally ignored us, so I left after waiting 15 minutes. And they weren't even busy. Worst service ever.
(1)Dave S.
(5)C David S.
Great beer selection. Good prices. And air conditioning inside too. What's not to like. Unlike other breweries, these guys have more than just IPA. They could use more seating.
(5)Jon K.
(1)Drew F.
The coffee and cream coffee milk porter was out of this world. I also sampled a Wheelie Scotch Ale that was fantastic. Cannot recommend this place enough. It's an up and comer. Will stop here anytime I'm visiting from Jacksonville.
(5)Amy B.
(4)Eric B.
Cycle Brewing is a nice little place on Central. A great place to meet a friend and have a beer or two. Some of the best tasting beer of the local brewery's
(5)Brad S.

(4)Robert F.
if india really had pale ales of this caliber the western world might never have had the opportunity to soak their taste buds in what i imagine to be the basis behind the dali llamas nirvana. with beers so fine both anheiser and Busch have become reclusive shut ins due to their shame and self hatred and a night time bartender hotter than microwaved dynamite this is a fine example of what a dtsp brewpub should be like.
(5)Axis S.

(1)Johnny C.
I guess I need to visit again as my opinions from my first two visits were during the first month in the new location. The room felt a little chilly and the crowd even cooler :-) Majority of what I tried was a little high on the IBU chart for me but I was always a fan in Gulfport so time to revisit perhaps
(3)Kurt V.
(3)Corey L.
Some really good beers. I do wonder if they have started taking credit cards. That is sometimes comes into play when deciding where to go. It is nice to see some of the old faces from people that worked and drank at the old Independent.
(4)Sylvester M.
(5)Martie P.
(3)Laura R.
(5)Amy Z.
Beers were good. Bartender was annoying. Couldn't believe they didn't offer a sampler though...full pints only. Cream and Sugar beer was delicious. Brown was alright. Both pale ales were good too.
(4)James V.
This place is not fancy. No big tvs, no loud music, the seating is not even what I would call comfortable, but they put their attention where their attention should be at a brewery, the beer. All their beers across styles and crafts is just well constructed and amazing. Will always keep coming back.
(5)Kerrie V.
Great stouts! If they have a barrel-aged beer on, grab it! Best brewery in St Pete by far.
(5)Sam F.
This is far and away the best beer in St. Pete. Couple that with some nice seating options and good music/friendly bartenders and I don't see why you'd go anywhere else...unless you feel the need to have bad beer while being distracted by a YMCA (3 Daughters) or babies (Green Bench).
(5)Todd F.
(4)Katie M.
(4)Crystal R.
Great local brewery with a friendly staff. My boyfriend loves their Cream and Sugar porter, but as it contains actual milk, I pass on it. I love their Pumqueen and Hazelnut barrel aged brews.
(5)Perry P.
Atmosphere like u r in a bathroom. Ignored us - never got a beer. Not clean. Why would anyone go here?
(1)Courtney W.
(4)Dan W.
Great beer. cool atmosphere and the female bartender was awesome.. and pretty HOT!
(5)Casey C.
Cool tiny beer joint. 5 bucks a pint for any beer. Not a port or stout guy but the taster I had of the Cream and Sugar made me get a growler to go. Which was also really cool. They can the beer on the spot. Straight out of the tap.
(5)sean h.
Always me and my husbands goTo place. Best Beer in town. Cream and Sugar, please Fav !!!!
(5)Dana O.
(5)Jigsha D.
Nice atmosphere and beer selection. But the female bartender was not very welcoming at all. When asking questions, it seemed as if we were interrupting her night. No friendly help or feedback on beers at all. It's a pity as we love everything else about this place.
(3)Anna M.
(4)Chelsea B.
(4)Sherri T.
Cream and sugar please.... That is all you need to say when you walk in....this porter is amazing! I love the crowlers, you can buy a few to take home and they are the perfect size to drink without wasting any. The only draw back is it is cash only....so bring enough to take home a few crowlers!!!
(4)Ryan Z.
(4)Hillary V.
(4)Julio H.
(5)Mike M.
Cool spot with outside and inside seating. Great place if you biking around St Pete. You have to get a Cream and Sugar Please, it's absolutely delicious!
(5)Laurel F.
(5)Mike Z.
(4)Clo K.
Cash only. Dark beers, ipa, etc. Could have friendlier staff that wants you to drink their beer.
(2)K N.
There's a variety of beers on tap but I love the Creme n sugar, plz. The ambience is great and they have awesome tables.
(5)Patrick H.
(4)Annaleah K.
(4)Jeremy L.
(1)Ami + David P.
Cream and Sugar, Please! The beer is all great and reasonably priced. Note, this is a cash only establishment.
(5)Loretta B.
Cycle Brewing has fantastic beer. Fixie=delicious! Lots of great IPAs as well! It's a very mellow place with a chill vibe and great people. It's a lot smaller then the other breweries in the area but the staff make it very homey. Good beer. Good people.
(4)Sebastian N.
Creme n sugar is my favourite. I didn't have much time to try more beers from their selection but this place is definitely worth checking.
(4)Misty S.
#Cashonly

Great beer. I wish they sold flights so I could try more of their beers. Also know that they are cash only so hit the ATM before settling in for a few pints.
